Abstract:

The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) is the leading annual report on the competitiveness of nations and has been published by IMD since 1989. The WCY benchmarks the performance of the world´s 58 most competitive economies, measuring the multiple facets of competitiveness and proving the earliest data on the market ever year.

We are pleased to present this year´s 2010 publication, with the valuable contribution of our 54 Partner Institutes - a unique worldwide network that guarantees up-to-date and reliable statistics.

The WCY methodology focuses primarily on hard, measurable statistics, which contribute 2/3 to the rankings, in order to provide the most objective assessment of countries´competitiveness in today´s global world. But since it is also important to reflect current and future perceptions of competitiveness from the business community, our Executive Opinion Survey complements the hard data.

In these times of economic recovery, the WCY is an excellent tool for decision-makers to better understand how countries may pull throught the global crisis and what the future may hold.
