Abstract:

IMD´s World Competitiveness Center, a pioneer in competitiveness since 1989, is pleased to present the 2007 edition of the World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY). The WCY provides an "All-in-One" access to competitiveness, ranking nations on the basis of 323 criteria, each analyzing a different facet of competitiveness.

The WCY upholds its reputation as the world´s first source of knowledge on competitiveness. It provides the most comprehensive database, based on 2/3 had statistics that are complemented by 1/3 survey opinion data. In this year´s edition, we welcome two new countries: Lithuania and Ukraine, bringing the total number of countries covered by the WCY to 55.

In today´s global and changing world, the WCY provides the tools to better understand how competitiveness is evolving, from emerging markets to emerging powers and a new world of competitors. We hope that decision-makers evertwhere -whether business leaders, governments or academics - will find the World Competitiveness Center´s research and database meeting their needs in addressing the new priorities in 2007.

IMD is especially grateful to its 50 Partner Institutes around the world for their invaluable collaboration, helping to ensure that our data is as reliable and up-to-date as possible. This unique network has been built up over the past 20 years and has proved to be an inestimable source of information and knowledge exchange.
