Abstract:

This chapter presents the underlying model of analysis for this research. The model combines the cross-cultural “recontextualization perspective”, which considers culture and meaning, with the institutionalist “transfer as translation” approach, which considers the metaphorical transformation of ideas and practices, transfer strategies, transfer outcomes, and its influence on the broader ecosystem. In a first step, the two approaches will be presented separately before comparing them in a second step, showing their complementarity for the analysis of transfer processes on a micro-level. In a third step, they will be integrated with further literature to build an integrative model that serves for further analysis.
